Challenge

A sloping hillside lot in Langley was losing usable ground to erosion, and the existing driveway was slumping and holding water. The owner needed the grade held back permanently and a stable, well-drained access rebuilt without disturbing the neighbouring property.

Our Approach

• Surveyed the slope and set out an engineered, terraced retaining wall sized to the soil and height conditions on site.
• Excavated and built the wall in tiers, installing perforated drain lines and free-draining granular backfill behind each lift so water is relieved rather than trapped against the structure.
• Regraded the disturbed ground to shed water away from the wall and the home, then rebuilt the driveway on a compacted granular base for a firm, all-season surface.

Result

• Hillside grade is held back by an engineered structure with drainage built in behind it.
• Driveway drains and stays firm through Fraser Valley wet-season rain instead of slumping and ponding.

Challenge

A commercial gravel lot in Surrey ponded badly after every rain, leaving standing water across the working surface, softening the subgrade and making the yard difficult to use. Surface water had nowhere to go.

Our Approach

• Assessed the existing grades and drainage to find where water was collecting and why it could not escape.
• Regraded the lot to positive slopes and installed catch basins with a collection piping network to capture surface water at the low points.
• Tied the new collection system into the municipal storm connection to Surrey standards so captured water is carried off site.

Result

• Chronic ponding across the working surface was eliminated.
• A firmer, better-draining lot that stays usable through the wet season.

Challenge

A new build in Abbotsford needed a properly excavated and prepared foundation footprint with a stable, well-drained base — the kind of groundwork that determines whether a foundation performs for decades or develops moisture problems early.

Our Approach

• Completed bulk excavation of the foundation footprint and prepared an engineered, compacted pad to support the slab.
• Installed full perimeter drain tile so groundwater is intercepted and carried away from the foundation.

Challenge

An eroding hillside in Mission was losing ground and threatening the stability of the property above it. Loose, unvegetated soil was being carried off with every heavy rain, and the slope needed to be held and re-established.

Our Approach

• Built multi-tier retaining structures to break the slope into stable, held terraces.
• Installed drainage control so surface and subsurface water is managed rather than allowed to keep cutting into the face.
• Hydroseeded the reworked slope to re-establish vegetation and lock the surface soil in place.

Result

• The hillside is held by engineered terraces instead of continuing to erode.
• Managed drainage reduces the water that was driving the erosion.
• A re-vegetated slope that stabilizes over time as the hydroseed establishes.

Challenge

On low-lying sites across Richmond, Delta and the Fraser floodplain, groundwater sits above the dig depth. Left unmanaged it floods trenches, softens the subgrade and stalls the schedule. The excavation has to be kept dry enough to work safely and build on.

Our Approach

• Match the dewatering method to the soils and depth — sump pumping for lighter inflows, wellpoint systems where the water table needs to be drawn down across a larger or deeper excavation.
• Run continuous pumping where conditions require it to hold the water table down through the work.
• Route discharge through sediment and erosion controls so pumped water meets municipal and environmental standards before it leaves the site.

Result

• Crews work on dry, stable ground instead of in flooded trenches.
• Managed discharge keeps the site compliant with municipal and environmental requirements.
